# IELTS Simon Writing Task 2, Lesson 7: Discussion essays

দুই পক্ষই, সাথে নিজের মত: একটা Cambridge প্রশ্নে প্ল্যান থেকে পুরো এসে, বাক্য ধরে ধরে

হ্যালো এভরিওয়ান! গত লেসন ৬-এ আমরা শিখেছিলাম কীভাবে Opinion Essay (Do you agree or disagree) লিখতে হয়। আজকে লেসন ৭-এ আমরা IELTS Writing Task 2-এর অন্যতম জনপ্রিয় এবং কমন আরেকটি ক্যাটাগরি— **Discussion Essay** ("Discuss both views and give your own opinion") নিয়ে কথা বলবো।

আজকে আমরা Cambridge IELTS 5 (Test 3)-এর একটি আসল পরীক্ষা প্রশ্ন নিয়ে ধাপে ধাপে একটি Band 9 লেভেলের পূর্ণাঙ্গ এসে (Full Essay) লিখে দেখাবো।

**অর্থ:** অনেকে মনে করেন শিশুদের মধ্যে প্রতিযোগিতার (Competition) মনোভাব উৎসাহিত করা উচিত। অন্যদিকে অনেকে বিশ্বাস করেন যে শিশুদের প্রতিযোগিতার চেয়ে পারস্পরিক সহযোগিতা (Cooperate) শেখালে তারা ভবিষ্যতে সমাজের জন্য বেশি উপযোগী প্রাপ্তবয়স্ক হয়ে ওঠে। দুটি মতামতই আলোচনা করুন এবং আপনার নিজস্ব মত প্রকাশ করুন।

## ১০ মিনিটের প্ল্যানিং ও স্ট্রাকচার

### ধাপ ১ ও ২: প্রশ্ন বোঝা ও স্ট্রাকচার তৈরি (৪ প্যারাগ্রাফ)

- **কী করতে হবে?** দুটি পক্ষই সমানভাবে আলোচনা করতে হবে এবং আপনার নিজস্ব মতামতও স্পষ্ট করতে হবে।
- **আমাদের অবস্থান (Opinion):** দুটিরই গুরুত্ব আছে, তবে **সহযোগিতা (Cooperation)** শেখানো বেশি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।
- **Paragraph 1 (Intro):** ২ বাক্য (টপিক paraphrase + দুই পক্ষের কথা উল্লেখ করে নিজের মতামত)।
- **Paragraph 2 (Main Body 1):** ১ম পক্ষ — শিশুদের মধ্যে প্রতিযোগিতার সুবিধা (Why encourage competition)।
- **Paragraph 3 (Main Body 2):** ২য় পক্ষ ও নিজস্ব মত — পারস্পরিক সহযোগিতার সুবিধা (Why teach cooperation - our view)।
- **Paragraph 4 (Conclusion):** ১ বাক্য (দুই পক্ষ মেনে নিয়ে সহযোগিতার গুরুত্ব পুনরায় বলা)।

### ধাপ ৩: ব্রেইনস্টর্মিং ও অর্গানাইজিং (আইডিয়া সাজানো)

- **Body 1 (প্রতিযোগিতার সুবিধা):**

  1. শিশুদের আরও কঠোর পরিশ্রম করার অনুপ্রেরণা বা মোটিভেশন জোগায় (Motivation to work harder)।
  1. ক্লাসের অন্যদের চেয়ে ভালো করার তাগিদ তৈরি করে (Outdo other pupils)।
  1. হেলদি রাইভালরি (Healthy rivalry) স্বাবলম্বী হওয়া ও দ্রুত শেখায় সাহায্য করে।
  1. স্কুল পরবর্তী জীবন, যেমন— চাকরির ভাইভার (Job interviews) মতো প্রতিযোগিতামূলক পরিবেশের জন্য তৈরি করে।

- **Body 2 (সহযোগিতার সুবিধা - আমাদের মত):**

  1. কর্মক্ষেত্র ও প্রাপ্তবয়স্ক জীবনে সহযোগিতার প্রয়োজনীয়তা অনেক বেশি।
  1. কর্মক্ষেত্রে টিমে কাজ করতে হয়, বসের (Superiors) নির্দেশ মানতে হয় এবং জুনিয়র কর্মীদের (Junior staff) সাহায্য করতে হয়।
  1. একাই জেতার চেষ্টার চেয়ে দলগত কোলাবরেশন স্কিল (Team collaboration skills) অনেক বেশি দরকারি।
  1. 'জয়ী বা বিজিত' (Winners or losers) মানসিকতার চেয়ে একসাথে কাজ করে সফল হওয়ার মনোভাবই তৈরি করা উচিত।

## সম্পূর্ণ এসে (Step-by-Step Writing)

### Introduction (ভূমিকা)

- **Sentence 1 (Topic):** _People have different views about whether children should be taught to be competitive or cooperative._
- **Sentence 2 (Answer/Opinion):** _While a spirit of competition can sometimes be useful in life, I believe that the ability to cooperate is more important._

**টিপস:** ইন্ট্রোডাকশনে **'While'** ব্যবহার করে এক বাক্যেই দুটি পক্ষ এবং নিজের মত প্রকাশ করা হয়েছে।

### Main Body Paragraph 1 (প্রতিযোগিতার পক্ষে যুক্তি)

- **Sentence 1 (Topic Sentence):** _On the one hand, competition can be a great source of motivation for children._
- **Sentence 2 (পড়াশোনায় প্রতিযোগিতা):** _When teachers use games or prizes to introduce an element of competitiveness into lessons, it can encourage children to work harder to outdo the other pupils in the class._
- **Sentence 3 (আত্মবিশ্বাস ও অগ্রগতি):** _This kind of healthy rivalry may help to build children's self-confidence while pushing them to work independently and progress more quickly._
- **Sentence 4 (স্কুল পরবর্তী জীবনের সুবিধা):** _When these children leave school, their confidence and determination will help them in competitive situations such as job interviews._
- **Sentence 5 (সারসংক্ষেপ):** _It can therefore be argued that competition should be encouraged in order to prepare children for adult life._

### Main Body Paragraph 2 (সহযোগিতার পক্ষে যুক্তি - নিজস্ব মত)

- **Sentence 1 (Topic Sentence):** _On the other hand, it is perhaps even more important to prepare children for the many aspects of adult life that require cooperation._
- **Sentence 2 (কর্মক্ষেত্রের উদাহরণ):** _In the workplace, adults are expected to work in teams, follow instructions given by their superiors, or supervise and support the more junior members of staff._
- **Sentence 3 (কোলাবরেশনের গুরুত্ব):** _Team collaboration skills are much more useful than a competitive determination to win._
- **Sentence 4 (স্কুলের দায়িত্ব):** _This is the attitude that I believe schools should foster in young people._
- **Sentence 5 (একসাথে কাজ করার মানসিকতা):** _Instead of promoting the idea that people are either winners or losers, teachers could show children that they gain more from working together._

### Conclusion (উপসংহার)

**Sentence 1:** _In conclusion, I can understand why people might want to encourage competitiveness in children, but it seems to me that a cooperative attitude is much more desirable in adult life._

- **Foster an attitude** (মনোভাব গড়ে তোলা)
- **Cooperative attitude is more desirable** (সহযোগিতামূলক মনোভাব বেশি কাম্য)

• মিলিয়ে দেখুন: Introduction-এ দুই পক্ষ আর আপনার মত আছে কি না, আর দ্বিতীয় Main Paragraph-এ আপনার মতটা স্পষ্ট কি না।
• Competition আর cooperation-এর word family থেকে প্রতিটা রূপ দিয়ে একটা করে বাক্য লিখুন।
